Priority Pyramid

I’m dedicating this piece to everyone on a creative journey, in a search for self-expression and fulfilment. In the pursuit of ourselves, we often find the meaning of life. And at the end of that pursuit, we discover that everything we were meant to do from the beginning was simply to become and to share.

For years, I struggled with consistency. My ideas lived in my head more than they lived in the world. So instead of “trying to be great,” I stepped into a new mindset of discovering myself, then creating room for that discovery to flourish.

This has been a lifelong journey, but in January 2025 I committed to it fully. I quit my job and dived headfirst into running my animation studio full-time. I’ve always been entrepreneurial – my friends from secondary school can testify. My best friend and I used to “run things” for classmates: shoes, phones, ipods — as long as we could get a profit, we were your guys.

Choosing to build an animation studio out of all the possible paths deserves its own blog post, but for now I’ll say this: it was the most important thing to me, even when I couldn’t articulate why. After developing the framework I’m about to share, the reason became clear.

The framework is still evolving, but I’m documenting it in its raw form—and you’re invited on the journey with me.

Going through the Motions

Have you ever felt stuck in the motions of life? Ever felt like we’re inside a giant simulation you can’t quite piece together? Do you dread Mondays and count down to Friday, only to repeat the cycle again? Or is it the anxiety you feel when you look at your bank account?

We’ve all heard of the “rat race.” Many of us don’t know how to exit it…that’s what this journey is about for me.

Our generation is living through more rapid change than any before us. Traditional models for navigating life today are cracking, and school didn’t prepare us for the dynamism of the world we live in—especially not for creative paths.

This priority framework wasn’t derived from any existing theory, although I’m pretty sure there are similar models. The following texts are based off my observation—my own experiences, mistakes, experiments, and small revelations along the way. I’ll refine it over time, but for now, walk with me as we re-approach things we’ve always taken for granted. Let’s gooooo!

Exploring Time

Time is the genesis of the Priority Pyramid. The concept of time is generally fascinating, unlike many things that science has come to define, time is still largely vague based on how we understand it. We measure it with a clock, but what exactly does a clock measure? The clock tracks where we are relative to the sun…beats me why astrology is generally seen as mystic arts. What the watch measures is our relative experience of time, not time in itself. Sort of how a windmill measures the speed of wind, not the wind itself.

When you think of time, what comes to mind? If time is limited to life and death, did “your time” begin at your earliest memory? If time is consciousness-based then would time stop when a person loses their senses?… that brings us to the age old question, where did we come from and is there anything after this life?

Regardless of the conclusions we come to, we can almost be certain that there is no “time” outside this life…time in itself is in this life we experience. So I define Time as: your opportunity to be.

To “Be” is to materialise who you are based on your unique design —your ideas, relationships, creations, and contributions. Everything you have ever been or will ever be is a direct result of how you use your time.

So let’s hold that thought – Time as an “opportunity to be”.

Exploring Love

What is love? The most popular instinct would have to be romantic partnership, the second most dominant would probably be “God is Love”. If we take away any known definition and just think for a moment of what we picture when we say things like “There is love in that community” “I love basketball” “I love you”…when we think love, we think being drawn to something almost inexplicably, it seems to be a phenomenon that surpasses time itself. An attraction or attachment to things that resonate with you.

How do we measure how much love a person has? Because if we can’t define it then how do we put it on a scale?

When you do what you love time doesn’t matter as much, when you spend time with someone you love, time might as well be non-existent. Love as a concept seems to exist before time, and it outlives us through memory, legacy, and impact.

Understanding what you love and why, then, becomes the journey we have through life. So what do we call love? How do we define something that we discover through life?

I’d like to think of love as a force, a force of attraction…guiding us to the things we’re designed for. It’s the force that creates… it’s in everything and runs through everything; it’s why you’re drawn to certain passions, purposes, and people. It’s the essence of life.

This was and is the hardest thing for me to wrap my mind around in terms of having a specific definition, but right now, let’s go with Love as the force of life itself – where there is love, there is life.

Exploring Money

This one was easy to figure out…if we think about money, not cash, not crypto or digits in the bank… then what exactly is money? It is simply a contract of value exchange. We have developed and scaled up this exchange, so it’s easy to lose sight of what creating actual money is. Money as a concept is, therefore, something you can exchange for another thing that you want.

There is this question we usually ask, “Why don’t they teach us how to make money in school?”… It’s because money is a direct use of your time. Any system that is using up your time is taking your “money”, not enabling you to make more of it.

Trading off your time directly for money is a disconnect from the ideal human ,design and that takes us to this state where we feel stuck chasing bills, the dread of Mondays, and the new generation question of how do we break free and attain “financial freedom”.

Any activity that channels your love into meaningful work creates value, that value is your leverage in the marketplace. The deeper you go into your uniqueness, the higher the potential value because no one can be more you than You!!!

Money – Created value.

Designing the Future

We were taught that the future is “ahead” of us—past, present, future. A linear timeline. The future as I think about it isn’t linear, we have the past and we have our present, the future, however, is created.

Time, love, and money all work together to give substance to life as we know it, and create the future. In society, the people who control the vast amounts of money (Value created by people) tend to direct what we do with our time, therefore shape our collective future.

When it comes down to it, who controls your future? You do!…but that future is never in isolation. The moment you spend interacting with something or anyone – a job, scrolling on your phone, or even reading this blog, then you’re collaborating with whoever you interact with to build some future. It’s why individualism is an illusion because we don’t live in isolation…we affect each other directly or indirectly.

Alignment then becomes everything. The people you spend time with, the work you commit to, the environments you choose—they either move you toward your desired future or away from it. It’s why you hear things like work with people you “vibe” with. Because if you don’t like where a person is heading and you spend too much time with them, you’d soon have frustration in your life…it’s not just that it’s “toxic”, there’s no alignment on the desired future between the shared parties.

It’s why there has been a rise in protests in different parts of the world; governments are not listening to their citizens and especially the younger demographic. Oppression is born when you “force” a person or a group of people towards a future they don’t desire…something has to give.

The Urge in Urgency

I had the pieces together but something was missing. When you know what you love and you spend your time doing it, you’d get money and live the life you want…what changes? Why are people stuck in jobs they don’t like if it’s that easy? Why do we postpone things that really matter to us? Why do we have issues living with people we love?… and the answer I found was urgency. Urgency rearranges your frequency. It decides what gets your minutes, hours, days, and years.

In an ideal world, the urgent thing should be your vision—your desired future. But society has been engineered around bills and inflation. Survival becomes urgent and the thing that is most urgent to you is determining your future.

Managing your urgency is the key to aligning with your highest priority. Reclaim your time step by step, rediscover yourself and dwell in love, realign with your ideal future and watch your frequency change and attract people and resources that you need to create the life you want.

The Journey of Life

If you made it to the end, I’m eager to hear what this framework sparks in you. Through this lens, I understand a little better what life is…it’s a journey of love where we are all bound through time. What it has become is a journey of earning money (cash) with your most valuable time, and my mission for the season is clear: to reclaim my time and help other people do the same.

Thank you for sharing your time with me. I hope we use the time we spend from here on out to create a beautiful future – together.
